What is Baby Sensory?

Baby Sensory is a learning and development program for babies. It's based on research and evidence so you know that everything we do is safe and appropriate for your baby, and will boost learning and development, helping to reach those all important milestones in baby's first year of life.

What age are classes suitable for?

Our classes are designed to be suitable for babies right form newborn up to thirteen months. People always ask if babies are too young to join, and to that I would always say absolutely not. The earlier you join a class the more opportunities your baby has to build and strengthen connections between brain cells that will lay the foundation for their future. During the first 12 weeks of life your baby's brain develops faster than at any other time in their life. At its peak your baby's brain forms around 2 million new connections every single second. Everything your baby experiences will affect the growth and development of their brain. And please don't worry if baby sleeps through the session, babies still take in at least 60 percent of their stimuli even while asleep.

How is a class structured?

Each class is an hour long, split into three 20 minute sections. During the first and last 20 minutes we have our sensory activities, the middle section is time for exploratory play in our wonderful play area. Our classes are structured this way to help support your baby's nature play-rest-play cycle, and most will have a lovely long nap after the session. We begin every class with our infamous Say Hello the the Sun song, and end with our Wave Goodbye song. All this structure and repetition helps your baby feel safe, secure and settled into class.

What happens in a class?

Other than our Say Hello to the Sun song and Wave Goodbye, you can be sure to expect a different Baby Sensory experience every week you attend. We have a different theme each week, packed full of varying activities. We even swirch up our play area every week so there will always be new surprises for your baby and lots of exploring to be done. We use a wide range of props and resources to help stimulate your baby also. Some examples of activities could include singing and signing, music making with instruments, sensory exploration, music and movement, visual shows, light shows, baby massage, puppet shows, and the list goes on.

Is my baby too mobile?

No. Our class environment is safe for your baby to explore as much as they are able, please do not worry if your baby loves to explore.

Can I join at any time?

Providing there are spaces available, you are welcome to join a term at any time, even if it has already begun. Baby Sensory is not a course, and every week is different so there is nothing to be gained by waiting for the next term to start, only weeks of incredible memory making lost.
